lazytomc is a sound artist based in Hong Kong, working across ambient music, interactive audio systems and field recording. Rather than composing note by note, her practice is built around designing systems that generate and transform sound in real time, and listening to what emerges from them.
Recent work includes Folding City : Hong Kong, an immersive soundscape experience released as both an iOS application and a browser work, in which four field recordings of the city are placed in three dimensional space and moved through by the listener via map navigation and compass based orientation tracking. Other projects include Ambient Processor, a five-module real-time vocal system built in Max/MSP whose entire synthesis engine follows the pitch, loudness and brightness of a live voice; an interactive system that reads a live video feed and maps its changes directly onto sound parameters; and original music and sound design for 3D game demos.
Her first release, Tunnel to Temple, came out independently in 2023, written, performed, recorded, arranged, produced and mastered entirely solo, and is available on Apple Music and Spotify. She has worked as a freelance musician and sound designer since 2022, carrying independent projects from concept through to final audio delivery. In 2025 she completed an intensive in Composition for Screen, scoring original material to film and game sequences, and at the University of Sydney her research examined the relationship between soundtrack features and audience emotional response.
lazytomc holds a B.A. in Fashion Design from Shih Chien University, Taipei, and a Master of Architectural Science specialising in Audio and Acoustics from the University of Sydney. She is currently reading for an M.A. in Music Studies at the University of Hong Kong.
Four recordings of Hong Kong, each 8 minutes 19 seconds long, placed as four independent sources in three dimensional space. Drag across the map to move between them, or turn your body and let the phone's compass turn your head. With headphones on, you are not listening to the city; you are standing inside it.
Every source holds its own position. Walk toward the traffic and the shopping mall falls in behind you; turn to face the bay and the chanting slides from one ear to the other. All four recordings run at once, but the mix you hear at any second belongs only to where you are standing and which way you are facing.
The spatial audio engine is entirely self built: Swift on iOS, and rewritten against the Web Audio API for the browser as a single HTML file. No install, one URL, any pair of headphones.

On a phone, switch to Compass mode — turn your body and the sound field turns with your head.
A first independent release, written, performed, recorded, arranged, produced and mastered entirely solo.
Built entirely from field recordings: every sound in the track is a sample of something recorded on location.
Real-time audio and image processing systems I have built, and some experiments made with them.
